Why the Lottery System? PLEASE READ!

Due to the enormous popularity of the NHSPCA Summer Camp Program and limited number of openings available, a Lottery System will be used to determine placement for Summer Camp rather than a first come first serve basis. After extensive research of options and consideration of feedback from parents, we have determined that a Lottery System will provide a registration system that is equitable for all. Camp enrollment is limited to one week of camp per child.

Lottery Registration

Parents/guardians will be given until March 1st to apply. Applications can be submitted for inclusion in the lottery in the following ways:

  • By mail (must be postmarked no later than February 25th)
  • In person to the Administration office during business hours (Monday-Friday 9:00AM to 4:00 PM)
  • In person to the Adoption Center during open hours

Camp applications must be submitted with $15 non-refundable Application Fee in the form of check, cash or credit card number. Application Fee is not applicable to Camp Fee.

Applicants selected by the lottery process for camp will be notified by March 15th and full payment of Camp Fee is due no later than March 31st. Camp Fee payments not received in full by the due date will result in forfeiture of placement in camp (no exceptions) and a Wait List applicant will be selected. Once payment is received, Parent/Guardian will be mailed confirmation of placement in camp and receipt for payment, along with details about the camp. If the first choice session indicated on the application is full, we will move on to the second choice, etc. If all three choices listed on the application are full, the application will be put onto a Wait List.

Wait List

Campers not selected by the lottery process will be notified by mail by March 31st and will automatically be put on our Wait List. If a space opens, Wait List applications will be randomly selected and contacted. Parent/guardians will be given 7 days to accept their child's registration in camp from the Wait List and provide payment in full. Wait List registration payments not received within 7 days of parent/guardian acceptance will result in forfeiture of placement in camp and another Wait List applicant will be selected. Once payment is received, Parent/Guardian will be mailed confirmation of placement in camp and receipt for payment, along with details about the camp.

Buddy System

Because many families find it helpful to carpool, you may submit your child's application with ONE SIBLING or ONE FRIEND in their age group (Little Campers ages 6-8 and Big Campers ages 9-12). The children will be entered in the Lottery one time, as one unit. Their chances of getting into Summer Camp will be the same as for individual applicants.

Remember: Both children's applications must be filled out completely, submitted with application fee AND must indicate the other child's name in the "Place me in camp with:_____" section. Both applications must indicate the same first, second and third choice of sessions and meet the age criteria for that session.
