He has been learning about all things puppy here and the NHSPCA recommends basic obedience classes to help him bond with his new owner.

Boxer, Spayed Female, 7 years old, has been good with children of all ages, other dogs and cats. Tiffany is here because her owner passed away. She is housetrained and scored a perfect A+ on her temperament test.

Labrador Retriever, Spayed Female, 4 years old, not recommended with children under the age of 6, has been good with other dogs and cats. Lady is here because there were financial issues in her previous home. She is housetrained.

Millie

Flat Coated Retriever X, Spayed Female, 2 years old, not recommended with children under the age of 6, has been good with some other dogs and the cats she has met here. Millie is here because there were too many animals in her previous home. She is housetrained.

Simba

Rottweiler X, Neutered Male, 3 years old, not recommended with children under the age of 8, has been good with other dogs and has lived with cats in the past. Simba is here because his owner was moving and could not take him along. He is housetrained.

Piper

Labrador Retriever, Spayed Female, 1 ½ years old, not recommended with children under the age of 6, has been good with the other dogs she has met here and we are not sure how she would do with cat yet. Piper came to us because her owner had no time for her and she was displaying signs of separation anxiety. She is housetrained.

Simone

Shepherd / Labrador X, Spayed Female, 1 year old, not recommended with children under the age of 6, has been good with both the other dogs and cats she has met here. Simone came to us as an unclaimed stray and she is housetrained.

Boomer

Labrador Retriever X, Neutered Male, 2 years old, not recommended with children under the age of 12, has been good with other dogs, but is not good with cats. Boomer is here because there were financial issues in his previous home. He is housetrained and absolutely needs his new home to be feline free.

Sugar

Havanese / Mini Schnauzer X, Neutered Male, 3 years old, not recommended with children under the age of 8, has been good with some other dogs and the cats he has met here. Hayden is here because there were too many animals in his previous home. He is housetrained.

Bluetick Coonhound / Cattle Dog X, Neutered Male, 4 years old, has been good with children of all ages, other dogs and the cats he has met here. Bowser is here because there were financial issues in his previous home. He is housetrained.

He is semi-housetrained and is crate trained. Merritt is very gentle and well mannered…an easy staff favorite, we love this gentleman!

Speckles

Hound / Labrador X, Neutered Male, 2 years old, has been good with children of all ages and other dogs, but will chase cats for fun. Speckles is here because he was too active for his previous owner’s lifestyle. He is a real go getter and loves to play! Speckles would love a jogging companion or an active lifestyle to meet his needs and hopefully yours.

Kayla

Boxer X, Spayed Female, 8 years old, not recommended with children under the age of 8, has been good with cats and prefers male dogs only. Kayla is here because her owner was elderly and no longer able to care for her. She is housetrained, good on leash and looking for love in a quieter household.

Merideth

German Shepherd / Husky X, Spayed Female, 1 year old, not recommended with children under the age of 8, has been good with the other dogs she has met here, but has not been good with cats. Meredith is here because there were too many animal in her previous home. She is easily focused by food and should be an easy student to train in her new home.

Roy

Beagle / Labrador Retriever X, Neutered Male, 3 years old, not recommended with children under the age of 8, has been good with other dogs and cats he has met here. Roy is here because his owner had no time for him. He is housetrained, crate trained and has an easy going attitude. He can be nervous upon first introductions but, warms up quickly.

Katie

Coonhound, Spayed Female, 3 years old, not recommended with children under the age of 8, has been good with other dogs but might chase cats for fun. Katie is here because her owner passed away, She is semi-housetrained and as a constant companion, Katie simply wants to be right by your side.

Darcey

Anatolian Shepherd / Chow X, Spayed Female, 10 months old, not recommended with children under the age of 10, has been good with other dogs and the cats she has met here. Darcey is here because she was abandoned by her previous owner. She is semi-housetrained.

Spot

Dalmatian, Neutered Male, 4 years old, not recommended with children under the age of 4 and has been good with other dogs. Spot is here because his owner was traveling and could not take him along. He is housetrained and is a gentle soul, Spot is incredible! He has lived his life with a senior citizen and is looking for another calm and easy household. He is crate trained, good on leash and prefers a spot right by your feet (or the couch, if you’ll let him!).

Bruin ***Staff Favorite***

Labrador Retriever X, Neutered Male, 2 years old, not recommended with children under the age of 13 as he is working on his boundaries and controlling his energy level right now. He has been good with the other dogs he has met here, but might chase cats for fun. He is a genius and truly picks up on everything and anything quickly and with great enthusiasm. Bruin would play fetch until the sun goes down or go for a nice long run with you if you prefer. With plenty of "go and get em" attitude, this guy could add vibrance to any household ready to play all day!

What Do You Really Know About Greyhounds?

The NHSPCA is pleased to announce our ongoing commitment to the plight of the Greyhound. As an organization, we realize the overwhelming need for education and homes in the state of New Hampshire when it comes to these majestic dogs. Once owned by royalty and worshipped in ancient Egypt, Greyhounds are often overlooked simply due to their racing past and a misunderstanding as to what they can offer as a pet. We are here to promote education in the community and adoption of this wonderful breed.

Retired greyhounds make wonderful companions! Most are non-barking, easy to housebreak and are already crate trained. Greyhounds are generally excellent on leash, walking quietly and easily next to their person. They tend to have wonderful manners and bond quickly with people and most other dogs. Greyhounds are also very tolerant and can often learn to be okay with cats and children. With consistency and clarity, training can be easy and you may find you have a new shadow! They are intelligent, lovable and loyal. While they may have had a past of racing at the track, they require little exercise and tend to be couch potatoes in the home merely wanting companionship. We have dedicated a kennel to Greyhounds in need and will always have some available for adoption.
