Cruelty Investigations

Animal cruelty encompasses a range of behaviors harmful to animals, from neglect to malicious killing. Most cruelty investigated by humane officers is unintentional neglect that can be resolved through education.

Foster Care Program

Every year the NHSPCA takes in 3000 animals. The foster program temporarily houses animals that are unable to be adopted due to age, illness, injury or behavior.

Perfect Partners

The NHSPCA has long partnered with the Purina Pet Food Company to help seniors with the cost of adoption and pet ownership. Our Perfect Partners Program allows senior citizens to adopt FREE OF CHARGE with some of the initial costs of owning a pet paid for by the Purina Company.

Food Share Program

Not having enough money to feed yourself, let alone your pets, can create a lot of anxiety in a person's life. Priorities may create the thought for some, that the first thing they should do is "lighten the load." Animals always seem to be the first reasonable choice.

Pet Facilitated Therapy

This program involves bringing animals to visit residents in several area nursing homes, hospitals, and schools. NHSPCA certified volunteers bring their own pets for quality time, which benefits the volunteers, the animals, and the residents.

Lost and Found

Whether you allow your pet outside or not, it is essential that they wear a collar with an identification tag. Less than 5% of strays are reunited with their owner. Contrary to popular belief, the chance of your pet being hung up on a collar are far less than your pet being lost with no way to get home.

Disaster Preparation & Response

The best way to protect your whole family from the effects of a disaster is to have a disaster plan. If you are a pet owner, that plan must include your pets. Being prepared can save their lives as well as yours.

Low Cost Spay or Neuter Program

The NHSPCA's low-cost spay/neuter In-house Program, S.N.I.P., was created to meet the needs of animals owners unable to afford the cost of neutering their pets, and that do not qualify for any other low-cost neutering programs.

Rabies Clinics

The NHSPCA partners with Seacoast area veterinarians four times each year to provide low cost rabies vaccination to pets and their owners. These clinics assist in public awareness regarding the risk of rabies and help to offset the rising cost of veterinary care.
