Pet Facilitated Therapy

Sharing Our Companions

This program involves bringing animals to visit residents in several area nursing homes, hospitals, and schools. NHSPCA certified volunteers bring their own pets for quality time, which benefits the volunteers, the animals, and the residents.

Many senior citizens have to give up their own pets when becoming a resident of a nursing home or hospital. Even brief visits provided through this program make a big difference in their lives.

Statistics show that the simple act of petting an animal can reduce blood pressure, and , people that own pets actually live longer healthier lives.
