THANK YOU for making

Paws Walk 2008

a Huge Success!

The event raised more than $95,000...

for the care of homeless animals and attracted an estimated 1,500 people and their dogs. Thanks to the efforts of walkers, teams, sponsors, volunteers, vendors and exhibitors, the event exceeded all expectations.

For the first time in years, the weather cooperated and the sun shown brightly. Opening ceremonies included a welcome by Executive Director, Lisa Dennison and the singing of our National Anthem by Elena Maltese. Board President Erik Wheeler followed with the reading of a Commendation from Governor Lynch celebrating the 135th Anniversary of the founding of the NHSPCA. A blessing of the animals was then given by Reverend Andy Gilman of Stratham. Event hosts Ralphie Marino and Suzanne Lewis of WERZ then introduced the top fundraising team Paws for Energy Savings, representing Lamprey Brothers, who led the walk off accompanied by a rather loud rendition of Who Let The Dogs Out! "We were so proud as a company and a team to be out supporting the New Hampshire SPCA," says Joanne Lamprey, President of Lamprey Brothers. "This is a wonderful event, that supports a cause I am extremely passionate about, and we were thrilled with the success of the event."

Activities abounded throughout the day including K9 Ultimate Challenge games, agility demonstrations provided by New England Agility Team, demonstrations by the Maine Coast Runners Flyball Team and more than 25 vendors and exhibitors. Throughout the venue attendees could see the NHSPCA mission in motion as many of the dogs proudly wore ribbons indicating that they were "alumni" of the NHSPCA having been adopted there. "This is a great day for the New Hampshire SPCA," said Lisa Dennison, Executive Director. "We are so grateful for every dollar raised today. It will go far in helping us care for the 4,000 homeless animals that will come to us this year."

Prizes were awarded for individual fundraising as well as team fundraising. The Top Fundraising Team was Paws for Energy Savings, from Lamprey Brothers, led by Joanne Lamprey. The top Youth team (16 and under) was team Lot's O' Paws, led by Hayley Reddington of Newmarket. Hayley's team won this category last year as well. The top prizes for individual fundraising went to Theresa Corson in the Adult Category and Meghan Dow in the Youth Category.
