News Release

New Hampshire SPCA - On The Road, Saving Lives

The New Hampshire SPCA is thrilled to announce the launch of its new mobile rescue, adoption, and education vehicle. The vehicle is the first of its kind in
New Hampshire and will literally be On The Road, Saving Lives. Outfitted with 17
built in, environmentally controlled cages the Dodge Sprinter will be able to transport animals safely in all situations including during rescue operations and to and from off-sight adoption and humane education events.

"Having this vehicle is so exciting for us," said Lisa Dennison, NHSPCA Executive Director. "It will allow us to extend the reach of the New Hampshire SPCA and to save the lives of many more animals. When we use it as a rescue vehicle, we will know that the animals are being transported safely and not being put under additional stress due to extreme heat or cold. When we are at a school with it, it will be a mobile exhibit that children can tour through and understand more about sheltering of animals. As an off-sight adoption vehicle, it will bridge the NHSPCA into communities that don't have a humane agency and to people who might otherwise purchase animals from a pet store or on line. We will be bringing a message of humane treatment of animals and the beauty of adopting. We are so grateful to our donors for making this possible."

The vehicle was purchased with the proceeds from a "Special Fund" request at the NHSPCA's annual Auction for the Animals last October. The outside of the vehicle is adorned with photographs taken of animals who were adopted from the New Hampshire SPCA. "Each animal on the vehicle has a story, and we know each one," said Sheila Ryan, NHSPCA Director of Development and Marketing. "One of the dogs came from Hurricane Katrina, another was rescued from a hoarder Portsmouth parking lot, yet another came to us so severely injured that his leg was amputated to save his life. Each of them came to us homeless and in need and each now has a forever family of their own. Each is a representative of the thousands that come to us every year and find a second chance."
The New Hampshire SPCA would like to express our deepest thanks to our auction donors as well as Budd Perry of Memories Studio. Budd took the photos personally and generously contributed his time and services to make the vehicle really be our mission in motion.

The New Hampshire SPCA is a community resource center that provides animal adoption, education, investigation and sheltering services in a professional and compassionate way. The Adoption Center is open from 11 am – 4pm on Monday, Friday, Saturday and Sunday, 11 am – 7pm on Tuesday and Thursday, and closed on Wednesday.
