DEADLINE APPROACHES FOR NHSPCA SUMMER CAMP

February 11, 2009

On Wednesday, February 11 the New Hampshire SPCA announced that the deadline for Summer
Camp application is February 27, 2009. The
extreme popularity of the NHSPCA camps has
force the agency to go to a lottery system for camp for the first time. Parents interested in having
their kids attend this summer should complete the application process for entry in to the lottery
before the February 27th deadline.

The NHSPCA camps have been very popular over
the past few years. Last year all weeks sold out
in a matter of 3 hours and left many children disappointed that there just aren't enough weeks in the summer. Therefore, with consideration of feedback from parents and in an effort to provide a registration system that is equitable for all, the NHSPCA will use a Lottery System this year to determine placement for Summer Camp. Camp enrollment is limited to one week of camp per child.

Parents will have until February 27th to apply. Applications can be submitted by mail (postmarked no later than February 20th), in person to the Administration office during normal business hours, or in person at the Adoption Center during their regular business hours. Camp applications must be submitted with $15 non-refundable Application Fee in the form of check, cash or credit card number. Applicants selected by the lottery process for camp will be notified by March 15th.

If your child loves animals or you want to give your child the opportunity to learn about kindness and respect for animals in a fun and educational way the NHSPCA Summer Camp program may be for you. Your child will learn and have fun in an indoor and outdoor environment, get up close and personal with the animals, do service projects, crafts, games and much more!

The Humane Education program at the NHSPCA strives to teach children to respect all living creatures. Children learn about animals, their care and people's responsibility to them. Our educators work with local public schools to teach animal safety, pet care, and the importance of spaying and neutering.

We believe that by providing humane education to the public we begin to improve conditions for animals and strengthen the human/animal bond. Our vision is a world where every animal is well cared for and loved. Programming is available for children from
2 to 15 years old. Some of the available programs include junior volunteers (13-15 year olds), animal-centric clubs for children 6-12, tours for school and community groups of all ages,
story time for toddlers, school visits, birthday parties and 9 weeks of summer camp for
children 6-12.
