The New Hampshire SPCA is Expecting! Kittens That Is!

The New Hampshire SPCA invites one and all to its 2nd Annual Kitten Shower on April 26th and 27th, 11 am to 4pm! The event will be held at the New Hampshire SPCA Adoption Center at 104 Portsmouth Ave, Stratham and will help prepare for the hundreds of kittens and pregnant mother cats that are expected to come through our doors in the upcoming months.

"Kitten Season" which usually doesn't start until May has come early this year with our first two litters coming in, motherless, last week. Once kitten season is in full swing the New Hampshire SPCA typically has over 125 cats at the Adoption Center with as many as an additional 100 in foster care. In 2007, the NHSPCA took in 1,822 cats, the greatest number of cats entering an animal welfare agency in the state of New Hampshire. The New Hampshire SPCA is an open admission agency and doesn't close its doors when the kennels are full. Through innovative programs and fostering, the NHSPCA doors remain open to animals in need. At the same time, the NHSPCA does not euthanize healthy animals and boasts one of the two highest adoption rates in the state.

The Kitten Shower is a great family opportunity. Moms and Dads are encouraged to involve their children and take this opportunity to teach their kids about responsible pet ownership. Families can collect cat supplies and bring them to the Adoption Center to donate them. While here, visitors can learn about our foster program, enjoy the bake sale and enter our raffle. Bring a fantastic photo of your favorite cat or kitten to enter the Kitten Shower Photo Contest. Of course, visiting with the animals is always the best part.
