The New Hampshire SPCA
and Cocheco Valley Humane Society, announced today that
the event held on Tuesday, April 21 was a tremendous success.
John Holland, internationally renowned psychic medium, performed
at the South Church in Portsmouth to a sold out crowd of
500 people and raised over $30,000 to benefit homeless animals.
Mr. Holland approached
the two animal welfare organizations that serve the Greater
Seacoast, in November of last year with an offer to hold
the event. His love for his own dog, Koda, had inspired
him to help the homeless animals of the Seacoast area. Over
the ensuing months, Mr. Holland and his staff planned, organized
and promoted the event entirely. The result was a fabulous
evening with music by African drumming band Fote', five
hundred like minded people energizing the room, a forty-five
minute talk by John Holland followed by over two hours of
Mr. Holland's demonstration of his keen skill in connecting
and communicating with loved ones on the Other Side.

Representatives, board members
and volunteers of both agencies worked on the night of the event
to help make it a fantastic success.
During this time when many charities
are seeing a dip in donations, it was a gift to have Mr. Holland
bring his time, talent and followers to an event to benefit the
animals.
"We are definitely seeing
more animals coming in, and with kitten season just about to begin,
this event couldn't have been more perfectly timed," said Sheila
Ryan, Director of Development and Marketing for the NHSPCA. "We
are bracing for a tough year and we don't really know what tomorrow
may bring. We are so grateful to John for his generosity."
Candi Enman, CVHS' Director
of Development, added, "With more animals being abandoned or
surrendered by their owners these days, there is an even greater
need for our services. Through his overwhelming kindness and philanthropy,
Mr. Holland has helped more deserving animals get their second chance."
Mr. Holland donated 100% of
the net proceeds of the event equally to the benefiting agencies.
"It's always so amazing
and wonderful when someone wants to help," said Lisa Dennison,
Executive Director of the NHSPCA. "Our deepest thanks to John,
it was an incredible evening."
"I was happy to help. I
believe that we are connected to animals, just as we are to each
other," said Mr. Holland. "Animals teach us so many things
about enjoying life and unconditional love. We should do everything
we can to help."
