There’s a right way and a wrong way to say his name.

It’s not Mister Bodine, clipped and northern. It’s Miiiister Bo-deen, drawn out slow, the way they’d say it somewhere down in the bayous of Louisiana, maybe with a front porch and a glass of sweet tea nearby.

Mr. Bodine is two years old, sweet as they come, and yes, a little shy at first. He’s the kind of cat who takes his time. He’ll spend the majority of adoption hours tucked into his cat cave, perfectly content, quietly deciding whether you’re worth knowing. If you give him that time back by leaning in, gently coaxing him out with soft words of encouragement, he’ll slowly emerge. First his little head and soft eyes, peeking out to make sure the coast is clear. Then the rest of him, melting into you, purring all the way.

His ideal home is a peaceful one, where he can settle in at his own pace and feel safe enough to become himself. He’s gentle by nature, wonderful with kids, and easygoing with other cats (as long as they’re willing to extend him the same courtesy).

If you’re the kind of person who understands that the best things happen slowly, and you don’t mind learning a little Southern pronunciation along the way, Mr. Bodine might be exactly who you’ve been looking for.
