The NHSPCA Humane Education department is excited to once again partner with our Equine and Farm Program to offer a special farm-focused camp during the SAU16 April vacation week! We had a lot of fun running our Farm Squad Camp last year, and this year, we’re taking what we learned and working hard to update our camp structure to make it as successful as possible!

Because of the nature of the activities involved in our Farm Squad Camp and the types of animals cared for by our Equine and Farm team, this camp is only available for campers ages 9-12.

Campers participating in the Farm Squad Camp will spend much of their time outdoors (just like our Farm team does!), helping with hands-on tasks like mucking stalls, filling waters, dumping waste, etc. Campers must be able to work together to complete these tasks successfully! Please note, farm work is often messy and takes a lot of energy! Children will need to be able to work independently, with calm bodies and voices, and have an awareness of their surroundings. Please consider whether your child would enjoy these types of tasks, or be able to comply with these needs before registering.

To be able to offer the safest and most engaging experiences for our campers, Farm Camp will run in two-day sessions.

Ages 9-10:

Campers who are 9-10 years old can register to attend our Monday-Tuesday camp, which will take place on April 24th and 25th. Camp will run from 9:00am-3:00pm on both days.

Ages 11-12:

Campers who are between 11-12 years old can register to attend our Wednesday-Thursday camp, which will take place on April 26th and 27th Camp will run from 9:00am-3:00pm on both days.

Important information:

At the NHSPCA, we provide care for animals with a wide variety of personalities, behavioral and medical needs. Although campers will see animals during their program, we cannot promise a certain amount of direct animal contact.

We welcome campers of all backgrounds and ability levels. We’d like to remind families that campers will be visiting a working animal shelter and are expected to follow directions and have calm bodies and quiet voices when around animals. Any campers engaging in unsafe or disruptive behaviors toward peers, staff, or the animals in our care may be dismissed from camp with no refund provided.

In addition to our required closed toe footwear, we highly recommend your child bring a pair of boots to wear while engaging in farm activities throughout the week.

Cancellation and Refund Policy: There is a $25.00 service fee for registration cancellation, if you cancel more than 7 days from the start of your child’s scheduled week of camp. If you must cancel less than 7 days prior to the start of camp, all fees are non-refundable and will result in a donation of the total fee to the NHSPCA.

Waiver:I recognize that in conjunction with my child’s attendance at the New Hampshire Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (NHSPCA), my child will be in contact with and may be allowed to interact with a variety of animals. I understand that despite all precautions made, there is a chance that my child may contract a disease or illness by handling the animals. I further understand that there is a chance that my child may sustain a scratch or bite while handling animals. I understand that the above is illustrative of the types of risks involved in participating in programs at the NHSPCA but is in no way a complete list of possible risks. By checking the YES box when registering, I do hereby absolutely and unconditionally release and discharge the NHSPCA, including its employees, successors, assigns, directors, officers, and agents from and against any and all claims, obligations and liabilities of any nature relating to or arising out of my child’s participation with the NHSPCA camp program.
