SUMMARY:Reading with the Animals: Mondays 4:00pm - 6:00pm February 2024
DESCRIPTION:Bring or borrow a book and read to shelter animals. Research has shown that reading to animals has a positive impact on both the animals and the people who interact with them. It increases both reading proficiency and confidence in children. It also socializes the animals and helps them get adopted. Reading with animals is a win win for everyone!\nReading with Animals is open to everyone 5 years and older. \nEvery Monday between 4 pm and 6 pm. Sessions are 20 minutes long.  \nPLEASE NOTE: This event takes place after regular hours and the building will be locked. Please come to the Adoption Center door. You will be greeted by staff at your assigned time. \nCost: $5 per session (Select the date and the time you would like below) \nRefund/cancellation policy: It is not the NHSPCA’s policy to give refunds for cancellations. For events postponed due to illness or inclement weather\, we will make all attempts to reschedule or provide a credit to use toward future programming.   \nWaiver: I recognize that in conjunction with my child’s attendance at the New Hampshire Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (NHSPCA)\, my child will be in contact with and may be allowed to hold and pet animals. I understand that despite all precautions taken\, there is a chance that my child may contract a disease or illness by handling the animals. I further understand that there is a chance that my child may sustain a scratch or bite while handling animals. I understand that the above is illustrative of the types of risks involved in participating in programs at the NHSPCA\, but is in no way a complete list of possible risks. By checking the YES box when registering\, I do hereby absolutely and unconditionally release and discharge the NHSPCA\, including its employees\, successors\, assigns\, directors\, officers\, and agents from and against any and all claims\, obligations\, and liabilities of any nature relating to or arising out of my child’s participation with this NHSPCA program.  I certify that I am the registered child’s legal parent or legal guardian.

SUMMARY:Story Time with the Animals – Tues & Thurs 10:45am February 2024
DESCRIPTION:We’d like to welcome families with children ages 2-5 to visit our Humane Education classroom for story time with our classroom animals!  Registration is recommended and space is limited. \nWe offer story time options Tuesdays and Thursday 10:45 -11:30. During story time\, children will listen to a story about an animal\, color a picture\, and visit the animals in the classroom.  \nPre-registration is recommended\, but walk-ins are welcome if space is available.  Each session will offer a total of 12 spaces\, with a maximum of three tickets per family (one adult may bring up to three children). When signing up\, please purchase one ticket for each child attending.   \nCOST: $5 per child (max of 3 tickets per order)\, if walking in – we appreciate cash or check made out to the NHSPCA.

SUMMARY:Future Vets Camp 2024
DESCRIPTION:We are thrilled to announce our first ever Future Vets Camp!  \nDuring this two day camp\, children will dive in to the exciting field of veterinary medicine. Campers will tour our new state of the art clinic\, speak with veterinary professionals\, learn specific medical skills and practice how to care for sick and injured animals. We will also visit shelter animals\, interact with our classroom ambassador animals\, play fun games\, and make cool crafts! Campers will leave Future Vets Camp with new knowledge to help their pets and other animals!  \nThis camp is 2 days long and open to children ages 8-12. \nCamp hours are 9:00am-3:00pm  \n\nSession 1: Feb 26-27  9am-3pm\nSession 2: Feb 28-29  9am-3pm \n\nFriday March 1st will be a make-up day in the event of a snow day.  \n\nImportant information before registering: \nAt the NHSPCA\, we provide care for animals with a wide variety of personalities\, behavioral and medical needs. Although campers will see animals during their program\, we cannot promise a certain amount of direct animal contact. \nWe welcome campers of all backgrounds and ability levels. We’d like to remind families that campers will be visiting a working animal shelter and are expected to follow directions and have calm bodies and quiet voices when around animals. Any campers engaging in unsafe or disruptive behaviors toward peers\, staff\, or the animals in our care may be dismissed from camp with no refund provided.  \nIn addition to our required closed toe footwear\, we highly recommend your child bring a pair of boots to wear while engaging in farm activities throughout the week. \n\nCancellation and Refund Policy: There is a $25.00 service fee for registration cancellation\, if you cancel more than 7 days from the start of your child’s scheduled week of camp.
