SUMMARY:Reading with the Animals: Mondays 4:00pm - 6:00pm March 2024
DESCRIPTION:Bring or borrow a book and read to shelter animals. Research has shown that reading to animals has a positive impact on both the animals and the people who interact with them. It increases both reading proficiency and confidence in children. It also socializes the animals and helps them get adopted. Reading with animals is a win win for everyone!\nReading with Animals is open to everyone 5 years and older. \nEvery Monday between 4 pm and 6 pm. Sessions are 20 minutes long.  \nPLEASE NOTE: This event takes place after regular hours and the building will be locked. Please come to the Adoption Center door. You will be greeted by staff at your assigned time. \nCost: $5 per session (Select the date and the time you would like below) \nRefund/cancellation policy: It is not the NHSPCA’s policy to give refunds for cancellations. For events postponed due to illness or inclement weather\, we will make all attempts to reschedule or provide a credit to use toward future programming.   \nWaiver: I recognize that in conjunction with my child’s attendance at the New Hampshire Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (NHSPCA)\, my child will be in contact with and may be allowed to hold and pet animals. I understand that despite all precautions taken\, there is a chance that my child may contract a disease or illness by handling the animals. I further understand that there is a chance that my child may sustain a scratch or bite while handling animals. I understand that the above is illustrative of the types of risks involved in participating in programs at the NHSPCA\, but is in no way a complete list of possible risks. By checking the YES box when registering\, I do hereby absolutely and unconditionally release and discharge the NHSPCA\, including its employees\, successors\, assigns\, directors\, officers\, and agents from and against any and all claims\, obligations\, and liabilities of any nature relating to or arising out of my child’s participation with this NHSPCA program.  I certify that I am the registered child’s legal parent or legal guardian.

SUMMARY:Alzheimer's Café at the NHSPCA
DESCRIPTION:An Alzheimer’s Café offers a community setting where people living with Alzheimer’s disease\, dementia or other memory issues and their caregivers gather\, socialize and enjoy conversation. Our location offers the fun and unique opportunity to see some of our resident animals and have possible visits from owned or adoptable animals as well. This is a fun social event that will take place on the second Thursday of each month between 12:30pm and 2:00pm in our NEW Community Meeting Room on the first floor of the Learning Center. Space is limited and groups should contact us before planning to attend. There is no fee to attend. \nMasks are optional. If someone in your party is feeling unwell\, we kindly request that you stay home and plan to come for the next Café.
