DESCRIPTION:Instructor: Nadine Perry \nDuration: 5 Weeks \nClass Time: 1 Hour \nLocation: Tonry Tree Farm (Weather Permitting) \nClass Description: This class ventures into longer sequences and increased difficulty with angles. Teams will continue to work on helping the dog and handler stay on the path. The handlers will learn to give timely cues and make use of the dogs natural athletic abilities. Challenging turns and crosses will be introduced. Successful communication will be achieved using a positive reinforcement\, reward based training. \nPrerequisites:  Completion of  Intermediate Agility or instructor approval. \nVaccinations: Please send your dog’s vaccination records in advance of your first class by emailing them to vaccines@nhspca.org. Please include the class\, day and time in the Subject of your email. All pets must be current on core vaccinations. Vaccines for canine parvovirus\, distemper\, canine hepatitis and rabies are considered core vaccines. Please speak with your veterinarian about the appropriateness of non-core vaccines.  These include vaccines against Bordetella and Lepto. \nRefund & Cancellation Policy: There is a $25 service fee for registration cancellation\, if you cancel more than 7 days from the start of class. If you must cancel less than one week prior to the start of the program\, all fees are non-refundable and will result in a donation of the total fee to the NHSPCA. If the NHSPCA must cancel a program\, then we will issue a full refund. Note: Classes may be cancelled due to low enrollment. \nWeather cancellations are listed at 603-772-2921 Ext. 112. If we are experiencing inclement weather please call this number and listen to the recording for the most up to date cancellation information. \nWaiver & Photo Release: Client understands and accepts that attending dog training classes may put you\, your dog and/or any guests who may also attend\, in a situation not without risk. Client acknowledges there are unavoidable risks of injury when working with animals. Some of the dogs in attendance may be hard to handle and could cause injury even when handled with the utmost care. Client agrees to assume all risk of any injury or damage resulting from the actions of any dog including their own while in a class\, on the grounds of the NHSPCA\, Tonry Tree Farm\, Linden Woods Farm and any surrounding areas or when attending any training function. Client further understands that they are responsible for furnishing written proof of current Rabies\, Distemper and other vaccinations upon request and they understand that any time a dog is in contact with other animals it may expose him/her to minimal risk of communicable disease. Client hereby waives and releases the NHSPCA\, New England Agility Team (NEAT)\, Tonry Tree Farm\, Linden Woods Farm and their agents and employees from any and all liability for injury\, damage or illness that they or their dog may incur while attending the training classes. Client authorizes the NHSPCA to use photos of you\, your dog and/or any guests engaging in class activities for media purposes.

DESCRIPTION:Instructor:  Nadine Perry \nClass Time: 2 Hours \nClass Description: Interested in earning a title in Novice Tricks? This workshop will teach you how to train your dog to Spin\, Hand Signals\, ‘Catch It’\, Get in a Box\, Touch\, ‘Shake’ and much more. SUMMARY:Alzheimer's Café at the NHSPCA
DESCRIPTION:An Alzheimer’s Café offers a community setting where people living with Alzheimer’s disease\, dementia or other memory issues and their caregivers gather\, socialize and enjoy conversation. Our location offers the fun and unique opportunity to see some of our resident animals and have possible visits from owned or adoptable animals as well. This is a fun social event that will take place on the second Thursday of each month between 12:30pm and 2:00pm in our NEW Community Meeting Room on the first floor of the Learning Center. Space is limited and groups should contact us before planning to attend. There is no fee to attend. \nMasks are optional. If someone in your party is feeling unwell\, we kindly request that you stay home and plan to come for the next Café. SUMMARY:Reading with the Animals - Oct 2023
DESCRIPTION:Children in grades 1-8 who are reading at any level are invited to join us at the NHSPCA to read to animals from our adoption center or small animals from our Humane Education classroom. This program helps children improve their reading skills in a comfortable and relaxed environment while also helping the animals by providing socialization and human interaction. Reading sessions last 25 minutes (timeslots are listed as 30 minutes to allow time for our readers to exit before the next reader comes in) and take place Mondays each month between 4 pm and 6 pm.  Please note\, we want our readers and the animals to have quiet and calm surroundings\, so reading sessions are for one child at a time! If you have siblings or other pairs of children who would like to attend at the same time\, please email us at education@nhspca.org to see if we have the space and staff to host you! \nCost: $10 per session \nRefund/cancellation policy: It is not the NHSPCA’s policy to give refunds for cancellations. Are you looking to have fun in agility and build on the foundations that you learned? This class is for you! Continuing Agility will teach teams more basics in agility. Learning different handling maneuvers\, turns\, and the dog walk in short sequences. Students will be introduced to tunnels under the A frame and continue working on the teeter and weave poles. Successful communication will be achieved using a positive reinforcement\, reward based training. This class is meant to be fun and give you and your pup the opportunity to move into the Intermediate Agility class\, or you and your pup can just enjoy agility and take this class as many times as you’d like to keep them active. \nPrerequisites: Completion of  Intro to Agility or instructor approval. \nSpecial Notes: This class is not for aggressive or reactive dogs. This class is for young pups\, 4 months and under to help socialize them with other pups their age\, socialize with other people\, and get exposed to new things. We will discuss basic puppy issues like housebreaking\, jumping\, and nipping. You will learn the benefits of positive training and learn how to call your dog effectively. DESCRIPTION:We’d like to welcome families with children ages 2-5 to visit our Humane Education classroom for story time with our classroom animals!  Registration is recommended and space is limited. \nWe offer story time options Tuesdays and Thursday 10:45 -11:30. During story time\, children will listen to a story about an animal\, color a picture\, and visit the animals in the classroom.  \nPre-registration is recommended\, walk-ins welcome if space is available.  Each session will offer a total of 12 spaces\, with a maximum of three “tickets” per family (one adult may bring up to three children). When signing up\, please “purchase” one ticket for each child attending.   \nCOST: $5 per child (max of 3 tickets per order)\, if walking in cash or check is preferred.

DESCRIPTION:Bring or borrow a book and read to shelter animals. Research has shown that reading to animals has a positive impact on both the animals and the people who interact with them. It increases both reading proficiency and confidence in children. It also socializes the animals and helps them get adopted. Reading with animals is a win win for everyone!\nReading with Animals is open to everyone 5 years and older. \nEvery Monday between 4 pm and 6 pm. Sessions are 20 minutes long.  \nPLEASE NOTE: This event takes place after regular hours and the building will be locked. Please wait at the middle door marked “Learning Center”. For events postponed due to illness or inclement weather\, we will make all attempts to reschedule or provide a credit to use toward future programming.   \nWaiver: I recognize that in conjunction with my child’s attendance at the New Hampshire Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (NHSPCA)\, my child will be in contact with and may be allowed to hold and pet animals. I understand that despite all precautions taken\, there is a chance that my child may contract a disease or illness by handling the animals. I further understand that there is a chance that my child may sustain a scratch or bite while handling animals. I understand that the above is illustrative of the types of risks involved in participating in programs at the NHSPCA\, but is in no way a complete list of possible risks. DESCRIPTION:This is a 30 minutes play-time for dogs 25 lbs. or less and 4 months old and over to socialize. We provide a safe environment for dogs of a smaller size to socialize and play\, while also providing trained staff to facilitate appropriate dog-dog interactions and answer any of your training concerns. \nDogs over 6 months must be spayed or neutered to join the playgroup \nWe have changed our ticketing structure to a monthly pass for this very popular playgroup.  The cost is $10 per week (pre-pay for the month) & meets weekly. \nMeets Tuesdays: 12/5\, 12/12\, 12/19  \nOne person per dog. \nIf you must cancel your registration all fees are non-refundable and will result in a donation of the total fee to the NHSPCA. If the NHSPCA must cancel a program\, then we will issue a full refund. \nAll dogs must be current on vaccinations. Please email your most up to date vaccination records to vaccines@nhspca.org prior to the first class.
