SUMMARY:Reading with the Animals: Mondays 4:00pm - 6:00pm January 2024
DESCRIPTION:Bring or borrow a book and read to shelter animals. Research has shown that reading to animals has a positive impact on both the animals and the people who interact with them. It increases both reading proficiency and confidence in children. It also socializes the animals and helps them get adopted. Reading with animals is a win win for everyone!\nReading with Animals is open to everyone 5 years and older. \nEvery Monday between 4 pm and 6 pm. Sessions are 20 minutes long.  \nPLEASE NOTE: This event takes place after regular hours and the building will be locked. Please come to the Adoption Center door. You will be greeted by staff at your assigned time. \nCost: $5 per session (Select the date and the time you would like below) \nRefund/cancellation policy: It is not the NHSPCA’s policy to give refunds for cancellations. For events postponed due to illness or inclement weather\, we will make all attempts to reschedule or provide a credit to use toward future programming.   \nWaiver: I recognize that in conjunction with my child’s attendance at the New Hampshire Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (NHSPCA)\, my child will be in contact with and may be allowed to hold and pet animals. Are you looking to have fun in agility and build on the foundations that you learned? This class is for you! Continuing Agility will teach teams more basics in agility. Learning different handling maneuvers\, turns\, and the dog walk in short sequences. Students will be introduced to tunnels under the A frame and continue working on the teeter and weave poles. Successful communication will be achieved using a positive reinforcement\, reward based training. This class is meant to be fun and give you and your pup the opportunity to move into the Intermediate Agility class\, or you and your pup can just enjoy agility and take this class as many times as you’d like to keep them active. \nPrerequisites: Intro to Agility or instructor approval \n  \nSpecial Notes: This class is not for aggressive or reactive dogs. DESCRIPTION:Bring or borrow a book and read to shelter animals. Research has shown that reading to animals has a positive impact on both the animals and the people who interact with them. It increases both reading proficiency and confidence in children. It also socializes the animals and helps them get adopted. Reading with animals is a win win for everyone!\nReading with Animals is open to everyone 5 years and older. \nEvery Monday between 4 pm and 6 pm. Sessions are 20 minutes long.  \nPLEASE NOTE: This event takes place after regular hours and the building will be locked. Please come to the Adoption Center door. You will be greeted by staff at your assigned time. \nCost: $5 per session (Select the date and the time you would like below) \nRefund/cancellation policy: It is not the NHSPCA’s policy to give refunds for cancellations. DESCRIPTION:We are thrilled to announce our first ever Future Vets Camp!  \nDuring this two day camp\, children will dive in to the exciting field of veterinary medicine. Campers will tour our new state of the art clinic\, speak with veterinary professionals\, learn specific medical skills and practice how to care for sick and injured animals. We will also visit shelter animals\, interact with our classroom ambassador animals\, play fun games\, and make cool crafts! Campers will leave Future Vets Camp with new knowledge to help their pets and other animals!  \nThis camp is 2 days long and open to children ages 8-12. \nCamp hours are 9:00am-3:00pm  \n\nSession 1: Feb 26-27  9am-3pm\nSession 2: Feb 28-29  9am-3pm \n\nFriday March 1st will be a make-up day in the event of a snow day.  \n\nImportant information before registering: \nAt the NHSPCA\, we provide care for animals with a wide variety of personalities\, behavioral and medical needs. Although campers will see animals during their program\, we cannot promise a certain amount of direct animal contact. \nWe welcome campers of all backgrounds and ability levels. We’d like to remind families that campers will be visiting a working animal shelter and are expected to follow directions and have calm bodies and quiet voices when around animals. Any campers engaging in unsafe or disruptive behaviors toward peers\, staff\, or the animals in our care may be dismissed from camp with no refund provided.  \nIn addition to our required closed toe footwear\, we highly recommend your child bring a pair of boots to wear while engaging in farm activities throughout the week. \n\nCancellation and Refund Policy: There is a $25.00 service fee for registration cancellation\, if you cancel more than 7 days from the start of your child’s scheduled week of camp.
