SUMMARY:Alzheimer's Café at the NHSPCA
DESCRIPTION:An Alzheimer’s Café offers a community setting where people living with Alzheimer’s disease\, dementia or other memory issues and their caregivers gather\, socialize and enjoy conversation. Our location offers the fun and unique opportunity to see some of our resident animals and have possible visits from owned or adoptable animals as well. This is a fun social event that will take place on the second Thursday of each month between 12:30pm and 2:00pm in our Training Room on the first floor of the Learning Center. Space is limited and groups should contact us before planning to attend. There is no fee to attend. \nMasks are optional. If someone in your party is feeling unwell\, we kindly request that you stay home and plan to come for the next Café. This helps protect the vulnerable population that visit our Café as well as our staff and volunteers. \nSpace is limited.Questions – please email Jill Sloan at jsloan@nhspca.org \nWaiver: I recognize that in conjunction with my attendance at the New Hampshire Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (NHSPCA)\, I and members of my party will be in contact with and may be allowed to hold and pet animals. SUMMARY:Deck the Howls 2025
DESCRIPTION:Come spread joy to homeless animals and shine a light on the lifesaving efforts of the NHSPCA by joining our favorite winter event\, Deck the Howls! \nChildren ages 6-12 are invited to join us on Wednesday December 17 and Thursday  December 18\, 2025\, from 5:00-7:00 pm for a special opportunity to take a candlelight tour\, read a bedtime story to one of our rescues\, make holiday crafts\, decorate the shelter\, and enjoy some yummy treats.  \nWear some howliday PJs (or any comfy jammies!) and closed-toe shoes and bring your favorite story to share with the animals. Don’t have a favorite? Don’t worry\, we’ll have books you can borrow!  \nCOST: $35 per child  \nDue to the size of our indoor spaces\, we recommend parents either drop their children off or limit adult visitors to one per family. We want to make sure the kids and staff have plenty of room to comfortably move around and that our animals don’t get overwhelmed! Please note\, if you do choose to stay\, you may be asked to wait in the lobby for portions of the event.   \nBooking and Refund Policy  \nSpaces for this event fill up quickly\, so register early! Given the popularity and low cost of this event\, no refunds will be given for cancellations. In the case that the event must be cancelled due to inclement weather\, we will offer a credit to use toward future programming.

However\, the pace of this clinic is very fast. Pets that are reactive to other animals or extremely sensitive to veterinary procedures\, mild restraint or strangers are recommended to receive vaccines in a full-service veterinary setting where veterinary staff can go very slow\, and the pet can avoid being around sensitivity triggers such as lots of other people\, cars and animals.\nIf your animal has a history of biting\, please have them muzzled in advance. This promotes safety for all involved. \n\nWHAT WILL MY PET RECEIVE AT THIS CLINIC: \n\nThis clinic is for Rabies Vaccines only. DESCRIPTION:Come spread joy to homeless animals and shine a light on the lifesaving efforts of the NHSPCA by joining our favorite winter event\, Deck the Howls! \nChildren ages 6-12 are invited to join us on Wednesday December 11\, 2024\, from 5:00-7:00 pm for a special opportunity to take a candlelight tour\, read a bedtime story to one of our rescues\, make holiday crafts\, decorate the shelter\, and enjoy some yummy treats.  \nWear some howliday PJs (or any comfy jammies!) and closed-toe shoes and bring your favorite story to share with the animals. Don’t have a favorite? Don’t worry\, we’ll have books you can borrow!  \nCOST: $35 per child  \nDue to the size of our indoor spaces\, we recommend parents either drop their children off or limit adult visitors to one per family. We want to make sure the kids and staff have plenty of room to comfortably move around and that our animals don’t get overwhelmed! Please note\, if you do choose to stay\, you may be asked to wait in the lobby for portions of the event.   \nBooking and Refund Policy  \nSpaces for this event fill up quickly\, so register early! Given the popularity and low cost of this event\, no refunds will be given for cancellations. In the case that the event must be cancelled due to inclement weather\, we will offer a credit to use toward future programming.

DESCRIPTION:We want to celebrate the spookiest and fun time of year with you! Join the NHSPCA for our Halloween costume Paw-rade around our beautifully expanded campus! Whether you are a spectator or a participant…it will be a have a fa-boooo-lous good time for all (children\, pets\, and beyond). \nBoth children and dog(s) are encouraged to participate in our costume contest and Paw-rade around our ring trail; meet some of our adoptable animals\, and much more. \nEach parade entry is $5 per person (families with more than 3 children only need to pay up to $20).  Registration is helpful\, however walk-in’s on the day are also welcome. \nTreats given for humans and dogs\, and fun prizes will be offered for costume contest winners! \nSpectators along the parade path are welcome to join for free. \n\nUnfortunately there will be no Rain Date — so let’s hope for nice weather :)\n\n\nEvent Requirements\n\n\n\n\nDogs must always be leashed and must be safe around other animals and individuals. If you think your dog might be easily spooked or provoked by someone in a costume\, loud noises\, or other animals\, we kindly ask you to leave them home.\nEvent is weather permitting.\n\n\n\n\nSchedule\n\n\n\n\nCheck-in: 3:00-3:30\nParade will begin at 3:45\nTrick or treat (dogs and kids) around our campus with judging for costume contest 3:45-4:15\nParade Winners\, treats\, and wrap up 4:15-4:30

You will learn how these foundations can help develop the skills needed to live successfully in your home and in the world. We use positive reinforcement and marker training to build your bond with your dog and give you the handling skills to help your dog be a successful well-mannered pooch! \nPrerequisites: None \nSpecial Notes: This class is not for aggressive or reactive dogs.
