Frequently Asked Questions
Where will Paws Walk be held this year?
This year’s Paws Walk will be a hybrid event with both in-person and virtual ways to celebrate. On June 6 at Stratham Hill Park (270 Portsmouth Ave, Stratham, NH 03885), we’ll have groups of walkers go out in waves to allow for social distancing. Each wave will be 45 minutes or more apart. The virtual walk will have an interactive way for walkers to participate from home.
What precautionary measures will be taken in response to the ongoing COVID-19 crisis?
Safety is our number one priority, and we are doing everything in our power to ensure that all event participants, staff, and volunteers are screened, socially distanced, and safe! We will be following all state and town guidelines in place the day of the event. FACE MASKS WILL BE MANDATORY for all staff, volunteers, and Paws Walkers.
We’ll also have smaller groups of Paws Walkers attending the event throughout the day, to allow for adequate social distancing. Currently, the town of Stratham is limiting large groups to 50 people. Our waves of walkers will depart at 10:00 am, 10:45 am, 11:30 am, 12:30 pm, 1:15 pm, and 2:00 pm.
Due to limited space, all Paws Walkers will be required to register in advance. Every individual walker in a group must be registered to gain entry. No guests or day-of registrations will be admitted.
The morning of June 6, all Paws Walkers will receive an email to complete a health screening, which they must pass to gain admittance to the event. This is a simple questionnaire that can be answered online prior to arrival at the event.
Do I have to wear a mask?
Yes, all Paws Walkers, staff, and volunteers are required to wear a face mask for the entire duration of the event at Stratham Hill Park. No exceptions. Masks must be worn properly covering your nose and mouth.
Can I bring my dog
Yes! At Stratham Hill Park, licensed, well-behaved and vaccinated dogs are welcome to attend on a leash. Please leave female dogs that are in season and all other pets at home. For those of you celebrating virtually from your own home, you can walk with your dog, cat, goat, horse, guinea pig, etc. anywhere that it is safe for these animals to be – indoors or outdoors.
Do I have to register in advance? Can I bring a guest?
Because space is limited, we are requiring all Paws Walkers to register in advance. Guests are not permitted. Every individual in your party must be registered prior to June 6. We will have no day-of registrations at Stratham Hill Park. Virtual registrations do not include access to the event at Stratham Hill Park.
What time should I arrive at Stratham Hill Park on June 6?
Paws Walkers will be going out in waves this year to allow for social distancing. Waves of walkers will depart at: 10:00 am, 10:45 am, 11:30 am, 12:30 pm, 1:15 pm, and 2:00 pm. When your register, you will select your time. On June 6, please be sure to arrive at Stratham Hill Park no earlier than 15 minutes before your designated start time.
Is there a rain date?
No. Paws Walk will take place on Sunday, June 6 rain or shine.
How do I get a Paws Walk shirt?
You have the option to purchase your 2021 Paws Walk T-shirt with your registration OR register and raise $25 by Tuesday, May 11th to earn your T-shirt!
How do I get the other cool prizes?
The more money you raise you for the animals, the more prizes that you’ll earn! Prizes are earned based on your own individual fundraising, not as a team. Prizes are cumulative and you’ll be able to choose a prize from each fundraising level you achieve online after the walk.
How do I collect my prizes for fundraising?
Tee shirts will be distributed prior to the event. All other prizes will be redeemed by email after the event. You will get to choose from a selection of prizes for each fundraising level achieved, and they’ll be delivered to the address provided when you register. And you’ll have until June 20 to reach your fundraising goals! Be on the lookout for an email in the last week of June to redeem your prizes.
Is my Paws Walk registration fee tax deductible?
Unfortunately, no. The Internal Revenue Service considers entry fees for charitable events to be similar to tickets to sports games, gala events or theater performances—it is the price paid for attending and participating. Since it is considered an entertainment fee, it is not tax deductible. However, although the registration fee is not tax deductible, anything donated above and beyond that fee is. Also, any donation made to support a Paws Walk participant is tax deductible.
What is the deadline for turning in my donations?
All of the cash or check donations you collect need to be mailed and received at the New Hampshire SPCA by June 18, 2020. Online fundraising runs through June 20.
How do I turn in cash donations that I have collected?
If you collect any cash or checks, you can mail your donations, along with the completed donation form located in the Paws Walk Brochure to New Hampshire SPCA, ATTN: PAWS WALK, P.O. Box 196, Stratham, NH 03885. Be sure to include your name and Paws Walk so we can credit them to you.
Cash and check donations will not appear in your online fundraising total unless you specifically request this. Please email [email protected] to do so.
How much are the registration fees?
Adult or Youth Paws Walkers at Stratham Hill Park are $30, Adult Virtual Paws Walkers are $20, and Youth Virtual Paws Walkers are free.
