Do you have an interest in birds or are you considering adding one (or many) to your household? Do you have questions regarding health and care for your pet parrot or your backyard chickens?
If the answer is yes, then you will want to join us for an afternoon with special guest speaker Dr. Vanessa Grunkemeyer, DVM, MPH, DABVP (Avia). Dr. Grunkemeyer is an expert in avian medicine and surgery and shares a special interest in small flock poultry medicine and veterinary public health. She is the author of several publications and is Clinical Assistant Professor at UNH.
In this 90-minute lecture with time for Q & A, she will cover nutrition, housing, and enrichment recommendations for common pet parrot species (e.g. budgerigars, conures, cockatiels and larger cockatoos, Amazon parrots, African gray parrots, macaw species, etc.) and small flock chickens. Regular grooming and preventative medical care, including recognizing signs of illness in birds and how to prepare for routine or emergency veterinary visits, will be discussed.
Covid Precautions: Attendees must wear masks upon entering and during the workshop.
If you cancel more than 7 days from the start of class, there is a $10 service fee.
