Make a difference and help give homeless animals a second chance by volunteering for the Auction for the Animals Committee. Committee members play a significant role in creating the auction on November 22, 2025, and help secure valuable sponsorships, items and donations that make this event the New Hampshire SPCA’s largest fundraiser.

The Auction Volunteer Committee consists of three groups:

Item Action Team

  • Are you interested in connecting with new people and business owners? Do you have great ideas for items, destinations, and activities that would be awesome in our auction? Then the Item Action Team is for you!
  • Responsibilities: Secure sponsorships, items, trips, experiences, and other desirable donations that will command a high price at auction
  • Commitment: 2 in-person meetings – TBD weekday dates in July and August @ 5:30 pm, 5 minute check-in phone calls every other week, and 1 to 3 hours per week visiting or calling businesses to ask for donations on your own time
  • Primary Time Frame: August through October

Behind the Scenes Team

  • Are you good with numbers, lists, writing, or organizing? We have variety of of needs including entering spreadsheet data, submitting donation request forms, organizing auction items and writing item descriptions.
  • Responsibilities: Vary depending on your interests
  • Commitment: Ranges from a few hours total, to ongoing depending on the project; work can be done at the NHSPCA or from your home
  • Primary Time Frame: July through November

Staging Team

  • Do you love putting your creative mind to use, being hands on, and creating beautiful things? If yes, you’d make a great addition to our Staging Team!
  • Responsibilities: Organize and develop displays to showcase items in the Live and Silent Auctions at the event and support with other decorative elements for the event.
  • Commitment: Kickoff meeting – TBD weekday date in late September or early October, on-site working sessions two evenings per week with more days necessary during the final two weeks leading up to event day
  • Primary Time Frame: October and November

In addition to our Auction Committee, we have other volunteer opportunities for the Auction for the Animals including prep shifts before the event at the NHSPCA, and event day shifts at the Wentworth by the Sea Hotel.
