Late last month, we shared a story with you about a man who reached out in need of help. The man was in over his head and knew the kindest thing he could do for the 75 cats on his property would be to surrender them so they could find more ideal homes.
As our team drove back to the NHSPCA from the first visit with a Sprinter van full of terrified, undersocialized cats, we wondered how long it would take to find them all homes. Selling someone on an animal that’s completely shut down and won’t be comfortable with human interaction right away is no easy task… and suddenly, we had more than 25 on our hands with 50 still waiting.
We shared their story with you, our incredible community, and you rallied for these cats exactly how we hoped. You liked, shared, and commented on the post… tagging friends and family and joining us in wanting the very best for these misunderstood felines.
And then, you showed up.
With each and every adoption, our hearts filled with a little more hope — not only for those cats, who now had loving families and a warm, safe home to live in — but for those we left behind who still needed our help.
The second group came and members were adopted just as quickly as the first… and with your help, we recently trapped the last batch of cats and brought them to safety here at the NHSPCA! We truly could not have done this without you. We are tremendously grateful.
We have a few still receiving medical care, but the other 13 are available for adoption. They have been getting cozy in our Cat Pavilion — soaking up the comfort of living indoors and having a feeding routine they can depend on.
We would love to invite you to come by and see if one (or more) of these deserving cats feel like your next grand adventure. These cuties take great comfort in other cats, so if you’re interested in adopting a pair, we would be happy to waive the second adoption fee.
If you’ve ever taken a chance on a fearful animal, you know that the love they reward your time and patience with is like no other. We hope you’ll consider taking a chance on an undercat and seeing for yourself just how special that love can be.
Our Adoption Center is open from 11:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. every day except Wednesdays (closed) and we are located at 104 Portsmouth Avenue in Stratham, NH.
