Some dogs are built for grand adventures. Two-year-old Henry is built for the simple things: a quiet lifestyle, a familiar routine, and above all, a family to snuggle on the couch with.
Henry is a gentle dog who appears to have had limited exposure to just how fantastic life can be… but he’s been courageous while learning that everyday things—such as the trash can—aren’t necessarily out to get him! While Henry has proven to be fearful of new experiences, we’ve seen that he takes incredible comfort in guidance and reassurance from his handler and simply needs to be shown the way.
Henry is a sensitive soul through and through, and that has made it really hard for him to shine in the shelter environment. Between the noise and activity levels, Henry often finds himself feeling completely overwhelmed and cornered. He barks, he growls, and he thinks he’s doing his best to communicate that he’s not where he feels safe and comfortable.
Meet this guy outside of the kennel, though, and you’ll be shocked at how different he is.
The truth is, Henry is the kind of dog who’s consistently seeking connection—not just in moments when he’s feeling insecure. Out on a walk in the woods? Henry will check in with you often. Doing chores around the house? Henry will happily putter behind you to keep an eye on what you’re doing. Lounging on the couch? Henry will be right there beside you… and he may or may not be snoring.
We know what you might be thinking: it sounds like Henry can’t be alone! Just when you thought this sweet guy couldn’t be any more appealing… not only is he crate trained, but he also appears to be reliably house trained and is used to being home alone for 8-12 hours at a time. He’s well-mannered, non-destructive and asks to go outside when he needs to.
Looking for your next heart dog? Henry’s right here waiting for you, and he’s wondering if he can reserve the spot next to you on the couch for the rest of his life.
