Can we be honest for a minute? Eli hates living in a kennel.
If you’ve been by to look at adoptable dogs lately, you’ve likely seen — and heard — this boy acting out in his kennel. It’s not a pretty sight, and we understand why there’s not a line of people at our front desk asking to fill out an application for him.
But the truth is, it’s pure frustration.
Eli hates living in a kennel… and yet that’s what he’s been doing for the last 13 months.
Take this 3-year-old boy out of his kennel and you will see a complete change in his personality. Once he has been removed from the commotion in the Dog Pavilion, you’ll see him do a big shake off and get right to work showing you his endearing, goofy, downright easy-to-love personality.
Here’s what you need to know about this silly boy:
DOG FRIENDLY: Eli is an excellent playmate. He’s a vocal player with great body language. He’s very tolerant of others, careful and polite when he greets new friends, and loves to follow their lead.
PEOPLE ORIENTED: To Eli, nothing is more important than the approval of his people. He often looks to his handler for instruction, reassurance and butt scratches.
TEACHER’S PET MEETS CLASS CLOWN: Somehow Eli has merged these two roles. He’s smart and eager to please: a training dream! On the other hand, just look at his face… He’s goofy and has THE FUNNIEST expressions.
We recognize just how hard the shelter environment has been on Eli, and we know how he presents in his kennel is not indicative of how he would behave in a home. Because we’re such big fans of this guy and want him to have the opportunity to enjoy the security of a home, we’re open to offering a foster to adopt option for him. We adore him, and we know you will, too. All he needs is a chance, and we’re happy to do what it takes to get him get that chance.
Please, come by our Adoption Center (open 11:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. every day but Wednesdays) and ask to take Eli for a walk. You’ll be glad you did.
This adoptable pet feature is brought to you by our generous Cool Cat Sponsor, Murphy, Powers & Wilson CPAs. Join us for Paws Walk, Sunday, June 2 at Stratham Hill Park and help save more animals like Eli.
