Every day, Chance watches as people walk through our Dog Pavilion. He watches as families stop at kennels, smile wide, and fall in love. He watches as leashes clip onto collars and other dogs leave for home.

Day after day, Chance waits… incredibly hopeful someone will stop long enough to really hear what he’s been trying so hard to say.

At 10 years old, Chance has reached that wonderful stage of life where he wants everything to feel a little softer, a little steadier. He’s not interested in chaos. He’s interested in connection.

If you pass by his kennel, he’ll absolutely let you know he’s there. Not because he’s difficult, and not because he’s angry… but because he’s desperate for someone to give him the opportunity to show them who he really is.

The moment you do, everything changes.

Step into his kennel and the barking abruptly stops. Suddenly, there’s just Chance: a really, really good guy who’s thrilled that someone chose to spend time with him. His gentle personality will start shining through almost immediately.

Chance is the kind of dog who will remind you to slow down and appreciate your surroundings a bit more… and he’ll force you to practice that as he sniffs every single blade of grass he comes across during walks. While he may be a senior, he still lights up when you toss him a ball. Not in the frantic, chaotic puppy way… but in the joyful, wholehearted senior way.

That softer side of Chance really blossomed with his foster family, who absolutely adored him. They shared that while he still has a good amount of energy, he also loves to relax, enjoys the company of other dogs, and fully appreciates being tucked under a blanket for a good nap.

If you’ve ever had the honor of adopting a senior shelter dog, you know they have a beautiful way of loving. There’s no guessing game with them. Chance already knows who he is, and who he wants to be:

Your steadfast companion.

Your walking buddy.

Your reason to smile at the end of a long day.

Chance has been waiting patiently for the right person to see past the kennel and into his heart… and when they finally do, he’s ready to give them everything he has. Our Adoption Center is open from 11:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. daily through the weekend. We’d love for you to come by and give this sweet boy a chance.
