Green to Great: A 90 Day Equine Revamp!

4 Horses, 4 Trainers, 90 days of Training.

Follow the journey as four rescue horses from the New Hampshire SPCA and MSPCA at Nevins Farm go  from “green to great”!

Earlier this month, Demi, Dixie, Honey and Toby were partnered up with professional trainers to ‘learn the ropes’ of being a horse. These trainers and their support teams will have 90 days to ready the horse for adoption, including such skillsets as ground manners, essential groundwork, and starting under saddle (a specific training plan for each horse will be developed based on the horse’s needs). The 90 day event will then culminate in an equine showcase at the MSPCA at Nevins Farm on May 4th, featuring these and other adoptable horses from the MSPCA and NHSPCA as they strut their stuff and show off their talents and true potential!

Meet the two New Hampshire SPCA Horses

 

Demi

Demi is in training with Deanna Kravetz and her clients at Over the Oxer Equestrian in Dover, NH. She is a lovely 19 year old quarter horse mare with no previous riding training. Deanna and her clients will work with Demi to get her settled into a busy boarding barn atmosphere and introduce her to riding-related activities over the next 90 days.

Toby

Toby is in training with Jenny Parker of Move Freely Equine in Deerfield, NH. He is an easy-going 8 year old quarter horse gelding. Jenny aims to introduce Toby to a training program and to develop a partnership to determine what kind of riding-related job Toby would enjoy best!

The New Hampshire SPCA is one of the few animal shelters in the state of New Hampshire equipped to provide care and adoption for homeless, abused or neglected farm animals.
