This seven-year-old black lab mix has a salt-and-pepper face that’s every bit as endearing as her personality. Playful, expressive, and full of charm, Muffin is always ready to get the conversation going—especially in the Dog Pavilion, where she may or may not lead the Canine Chorus.

Originally adopted from a shelter in Nebraska, Muffin unfortunately found herself back in the shelter environment when her previous family was no longer able to care for her. It’s very clear this girl has known love, and she’s ready to find it again with a family who appreciates that she’s a wonderful mix of silly and sweet with a dash of stubborn.

Though she was described to us as shy, Muffin has been quick to warm up to new people here—especially if there are treats or squeaky toys involved!

She’s lived with teens, adults, and even cats, who she mostly ignored unless they were in the mood to play. When it comes to other dogs, Muffin can be selective. Her confidence around canine companions isn’t her strongest trait, and she tends to be vocal around smaller dogs or those who don’t give her space. If her future home comes with another dog, we’d be happy to facilitate an introduction to ensure it’s a good fit. That said, Muffin would be perfectly content as your one and only.

What Muffin wants most is a family that will make her feel safe, understood, and loved. Give her that, and she will be the kind of companion who’s always there—steady, affectionate, and full of heart.

Muffin isn’t just looking for a soft place to land; she’s looking for her person, and once she finds you, she will be your loyal sidekick through it all.

Is Muffin your perfect match? Our Adoption Center is open from 11:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. daily at 104 Portsmouth Avenue in Stratham, NH. We’d love for you to stop by and say hello—just know she’ll probably be the one to start the conversation!
