One-year-old Filmore finds himself in New Hampshire due to a rather unique situation. Originally hailing from California, Filmore found himself in an unexpected situation in November 2023. A large fire erupted in an airplane hangar very close to the animal shelter where he was being housed. Due to the release of numerous toxins into the air and the threat of the fire spreading, he was rescued and transported to a different facility in Ohio. After spending a couple of months there, he was transported once again, this time into our care with the hope that he would have a better chance of finding his forever home.

Don’t judge a book by its cover, as the old saying goes, and we believe nothing better describes Filmore. At first glance, he can seem a little intimidating. Sadly, being a dark-colored, 71 lb. pit bull, he’s no stranger to being passed up for adoption in favor of less intense looking dogs. Don’t be fooled by his looks though, this guy is just a big mushy ball of love!

Filmore is very food-motivated and will happily show off his tricks (sit and shake) in exchange for some tasty treats! He is very people-oriented for the most part and enjoys sitting on the couch while leaning in for pets from his people. You are sure to know when he is in a happy mood because his wiggly butt will give it away. Filmore loves to go on walks or any other adventure that gets him out of the house. Although he’s a pretty social guy, he won’t be attached to your hip 24/7 like some dogs; he enjoys his independent time too.

Does Filmore sound like the companion for you? Come visit him during our Adoption Center’s open hours, every day from 11:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. (closed on Wednesdays), or email us at info@nhspca.org.
