Pet of the Week: Lady!

Lady is a 4-year-old boxer mix who came to us when her previous owner could no longer care for her. She has been available for adoption for almost a whole month and has only had 1 person enquire about her. This is mostly likely due to her poor kennel presence. Sadly, some dogs are passed over due to their behavior when suddenly finding themselves in unfamiliar surroundings. Stressed-out dogs may exhibit behaviors such as fear or aggression, which potential adopters often see and, as a result, many times pass by. It’s important to understand that the behavior a dog may display in a kennel environment is oftentimes very different from how they would act in a home environment.
Lady doesn’t like being in her kennel one bit, but as soon as you take her out, she becomes a completely different dog. She is a very smart girl who knows all her basic commands, not only in English but also in Spanish! When she needs to go to the bathroom, she will almost always tell you by sitting by the door and waiting patiently.
Lady loves going on long walks in the woods and other adventures. She is very playful with her people and loves to munch on all the treats! Even though she loves her treats she will need a little help achieving that summer body. She has successfully lived with children in her previous home. We think she would do best as the only pet in her new home because she can be particular about which dogs she likes. Additionally, she has a very high prey drive, which means no cats or small animals either.
Does Lady sound like the Lady for you? Come visit her during our Adoption Center’s open hours from 11 am – 4 p.m. everyday EXECPT Wednesdays or email us at info@nhspca.org.
