We could really use your help. Last week, our team responded to a desperate plea for help from a local resident. This man, who said he had 25 cats on his property, was well in over his head. He knew that the kindest thing he could do for his cats—who he loves so very much—would be to ask for help.
We are so, so thankful he did.
Our rescue team hit the road and upon arrival, we learned that 25 cats actually turned out to be more like 75. In all honesty, this isn’t a terribly uncommon occurrence; our team is always prepared to find more than what’s originally reported. However, you can imagine that with our current feline population (we have 55 other cats and kittens in care today) and 29 others scheduled to arrive from Tulsa tomorrow… this large, unexpected intake has quickly brought us to capacity.
Our team has made two trips out to the property to humanely trap as many cats as possible, but there are still more there who need us. The first group of cats is available for adoption now that they’ve been seen by our vet, received all their vaccines and have been spayed/neutered. A number of cats from the second group are tucked in and recovering from their spay/neuter surgeries tonight. We are planning to have 25 cats available for adoption on Friday, September 27, and more will be added over the coming days as they are cleared.
Each of these cats really needs a hero. Unsurprisingly, they are very nervous and shut down… but we see promise in their eyes. These cuties, who had been living mostly outdoors, are opting to snuggle into warm, quiet spaces around our Cat Pavilion instead of choosing to go outside on our Catio. We think they’d do well with families who are patient and understanding. They are taking great comfort in being together and we’d love to adopt them in pairs, but we think they’d do OK being adopted out on their own, too. Our team estimates that they are all relatively young and there are even some kittens.
Can you help us find these cats the safe and loving homes that they so desperately deserve? We say all the time that when you adopt an animal, you not only help that specific animal, but also the one that comes in after it. In this case, it’s very immediate. Every single cat adoption this weekend will help us make space for the remaining group of cats that still need us.
Three ways you can help:
ADOPT: Our Adoption Center is open from 11:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. every day except Wednesdays (closed) and we are located at 104 Portsmouth Avenue in Stratham, NH. More of these cats will be added to our website over the coming days as they are made available for adoption. Come on by and ask about these cats and our team would be happy to introduce you to them.
DONATE: We are so appreciative of donations of all types. All monetary donations today will automatically be doubled thanks to our good friend Helen Brosseau who is matching gifts this month. You can also help us keep these bellies full by purchasing an item or two from our Amazon or Chewy Wish Lists.
SHARE: Please help us reach more potential adopters by sharing this post. Just a few clicks could help us save more lives.
Thank you so much for your kindness.
