Finding our way home…for some it’s a simple trip and for others it is a journey.  Yahtzee had a journey from finding his way to the NHSPCA, to navigating the stresses and challenges of life in a kennel, to exploring the home and the space of a wonderful foster to mom, to finally finding his forever family, the people who embraced him and his energy and vibe and brought Yahtzee home.  His story is all the things that make our work so rewarding, and we are incredibly grateful that his forever family found him.

Yahtzee’s story is just one that is made possible thanks to donor generosity. And, right now, our largest matching gift challenge is LIVE! Thanks to animal lover and long-time NHSPCA friend Helen Brosseau, and a deeply committed anonymous volunteer, who have each pledged $25,000, donations are currently being doubled…up to $50,000!

We invite you to consider making a gift today. When you do, you will provide the resources to help animals find their forever homes, just like Yahtzee!

The following comes from Yahtzee’s new Dad. Enjoy!

“What an amazing first week we have had!

The first couple of days we had him spend most time away from our other dogs and people just to give him some decompression time. We have 10 people, four dogs (including Yahtzee) chickens and loads of acreage with wildlife all around, so there is lots to take in at first. We have been implementing a simple process of integration for all the dogs and people to get to feel comfortable. We now have a pretty established routine, which Yahtzee thrives on. Through the process, Yahtzee continues to relax and let us see who he is—which, is as we thought, just a good soul. He entertains us with his crazy zoomies, toy beeping (and hiding), insatiable appetite, and incredible capacity to give and receive love. He is also extremely smart and a very quick learner. I am amazed that even after all he has gone through in his life that he can still be such a good being. How others could not see this and adopt him is beyond me but selfishly, I am grateful.

I am also grateful that your staff treated him so well, especially when he was going through so many changes. I am sure he is thriving here in part because of the foundation of love and trust you all built with him, even in a stressful environment, and I am very grateful.

Please know that I truly believe he is where he was meant to be. He was the missing piece for my clan that we didn’t know we needed. I know he feels it, too.

Last night he was just sitting on the couch with me (well, on me), and he heard my son going to bed so he jumped up, gave me the gentlest little lick on my face, and trotted up the stairs to bed. Doesn’t get better than that.”
