Take a Virtual Walk to Benefit Homeless Animals at Paws Walk Reimagined
The New Hampshire SPCA announces that compassion isn’t canceled. This year, their life-saving fundraising event is going virtual and re-branded as Paws Walk Reimagined. Animal lovers of all ages are invited to stay home and save lives, tuning in online and walking in their own neighborhoods on Sunday, June 14th, 2020. Much of the day’s festivities will take place on social media, with participants sharing pictures of their walks and tagging @nhspca #PawsWalk.
Additionally, Paws Walk Reimagined will be the focus of the New Hampshire SPCA’s #GivingTuesdayNow Campaign on Tuesday, May 5th, 2020. #GivingTuesdayNow is a new global day of giving and unity in response to the need created by COVID-19. On Tuesday, May 5th, a generous donor will be matching up to $10,000 of contributions made to Paws Walk Reimagined via the event’s fundraising page. Participants are encouraged to register now and fundraise on #GivingTuesdayNow, to take advantage of the 1:1 match.
Paws Walk is the New Hampshire SPCA’s largest grassroots fundraiser and is critical to their life-saving work. This year’s switch to a virtual model involves reimagining how and where the event will take place, but the goal remains the same: to save animal lives with each step. Participants can register online and fundraise from the safety of home. As an incentive, they’ll be rewarded with prizes as they reach specific fundraising goals. To earn the much coveted Paws Walk Reimagined T-Shirt, participants need to fundraise $25 by Monday, May 18th or purchase one with their registration.
The event’s day-of festivities will include an array of web-based elements, including a Virtual Vendor Village linking directly to ecommerce pages of local business partners, online raffle, behind the scenes looks at the shelter, a virtual goodie bag, and more. The highlight of Paws Walk Reimagined is the walk itself at noon, with participants socially distancing and walking wherever they may be – their backyard or neighborhood, a local trail or even a treadmill. They’ll be encouraged to share on social media and tag @nhspca #PawsWalk.
“In light of the current crisis, we’re excited to still hold one of our community’s most loved and respected fundraising events virtually with Paws Walk Reimagined. It’s a time when we need the support of each other more than ever,” said Sheila Ryan, Director of Development at the New Hampshire SPCA. “The COVID-19 pandemic has been extremely challenging for us at the New Hampshire SPCA and has adversely impacted many of our programs, from adoptions to fundraising to community clinics and classes. We’re relying on Paws Walk Reimagined and the money raised by our generous supporters on #GivingTuesdayNow to help us weather this storm. Overall, for the entire event, our goal is to raise $130,000 to care for homeless and neglected animals now and into the future.”
